Creating Lasting Self-Care Habits to Kick Off the New Year

Creating Lasting Self-Care Habits to Kick Off the New Year

The new year is a time for reflection, goal setting, and making resolutions. But too often our resolutions are too ambitious, unrealistic, or simply not attainable. Instead of setting yourself up for failure with impossible goals, why not focus on creating lasting self-care habits this new year? Let's take a look at some simple ways you can create healthy and sustainable habits that will help make 2023 your best year yet.

Start Small

When it comes to starting any new habit, it’s important to start small. If you want to start exercising more, don’t jump right into intense workouts 5 days a week. Start with something manageable like 10 minutes of yoga each day or a 20 minute walk after dinner. As you get used to your routine and feel more comfortable with it, gradually increase the intensity until you have reached your desired level of activity. The healing and growth is in the process, not in your progress!

Take Time for Yourself

It’s important to set aside time for yourself each day in order to stay balanced and achieve the goals that you have set for the new year. Spend 30 minutes reading before bed, go for an early morning walk in nature, or just sit quietly and meditate for 10 minutes each day – whatever helps you relax and find balance in your life! Taking time for yourself will also help reduce stress levels which is essential if you want to reach all of your resolutions this year.

Be Kind To Yourself

It’s easy to beat ourselves up when we don't meet our expectations but we must remember that self-criticism isn't helpful and doesn't lead us down the path towards success. So try not to be too hard on yourself if things don't go according to plan - instead focus on what you have achieved so far and how far you have come since last year! Celebrate even the smallest successes as they can lead us closer towards our end goal.

As we enter 2023 with hope and optimism it's important that we also take care of ourselves so we can achieve all of our goals this year! By starting small, taking time for yourself each day, and being kinder to ourselves when we make mistakes or fall short of expectations - we can create lasting self-care habits that will see us through 2023 with ease! So take care of yourselves this New Year -you deserve it!
