The Little Seed Counseling team is happy to help if you have questions about the therapy process. We want you to feel confident and comfortable moving forward when you’re ready to schedule counseling sessions with us in our Greensboro, NC office. You can also read the answers to some of the frequently asked questions we hear from our Little Seed Counseling clients on this page.

How do I Make an Appointment? Do I Need to Fill Something Out Before We Meet?
You can book your appointment through links on the home page and throughout this website. You can also reach out to us directly if that feels more helpful to you. You can call (336) 405-8583 or email jena@littleseedcounseling.com. We use a secure practice management system called Simple Practice to obtain and store your information. We will ask you to fill out a few forms and sign a professional disclosure form prior to arriving to your session. We are available to help you with this if you have questions. In addition, if you are utilizing Telehealth, you will need to download Google Meet or the Simple Practice Telehealth App.

Is Therapy Private?
For the most part, yes. We always inform clients about what information can be shared. There are a few situations where your information may be disclosed, which will be discussed in the professional disclosure received during the intake process. In most cases, if you are a not a harm to yourself or others, your information is kept confidential. It is important to read the professional disclosure thoroughly, so you are aware of those situations where your information may be shared to ensure your safety. In addition, many do not know that, by using your health insurance, we are required to provide a diagnosis and case notes to your insurance company. This information becomes part of your medical record. If you do not want this information to be shared with your insurance company, please choose to pay out of pocket.

Do You Only Treat Trauma and Addiction?
We treat all sorts of things (anxiety, depression, mood disorders), but our therapist, Jena Plummer, specializes in trauma and addiction because they require a knowledge base and skills that she has worked on extensively through her education and professional career. Jena chose to specialize so her clients can feel confident that she has mastery in these areas. As an example, you wouldn't go to your general doctor if you needed to have surgery on your foot – you would be referred to someone who understands how best to treat your foot. Therapy works in the same way!

If you have any concern about whether or not we would be a good fit, please reach out!

Do You Only Recommend 12-Step Recovery?
We are believers in the power of 12-step recovery, but we also know that addiction recovery is unique to each individual. We do not "push" one particular type of recovery method but we are knowledgeable about a variety of them and can help you decide what the best fit is for you or your loved one.

Is Couples Therapy About Deciding Who is Right and Who is Wrong?
Not at all. Jena works with couples who are tired, frustrated, angry, and overwhelmed. Her job as your therapist is to help foster communication between partners. We use the Gottman Method, which provides skills that you can take with you to use outside of the office. We don't believe it is helpful to act as "judge and jury," during couples counseling sessions. Instead, the role of a therapist is to help you to understand what needs work in your relationship, how to foster an attitude of appreciation, and how to communicate in a way that helps bring you together rather than apart.

Where are You Located?

We are located at 515 College Road; Greensboro, NC 27410 in the Guilford Square Building. We are on the second floor.

What will happen during our first session?

During your first session with Jena or Nina, you will go over a consent form that outlines what to expect in therapy, limits to confidentiality and the risks and benefits of doing emotional work. You will then talk about what has brought you to therapy and how we can help you. Much of the first session will consist of information gathering, relationship building and diagnosis (if applicable). We will then use our next few sessions to get to know each other better and come up with a treatment plan that will guide our therapeutic process.
