Jena Plummer

LCMHC, LCAS, CCTS-I

I believe every little seed is a chance at a new beginning.

  • I’m Jena Plummer and I help people find themselves again. As a person, I show up to my office with an understanding of my own humanness. I have my own counselor because I believe in the value (and sometimes magic) of counseling. I find healing in artwork, writing, music, and creating. I named my child after a Phish song. I reload the dishwasher after my family loads it up the first time. I am perfectly imperfect, and I want to help you embrace and make friends with that part of yourself, too.

  • As a counselor, I provide structure, goal setting and deep emotional work. I am not a run-of-the-mill general counselor. I can certainly work with most mental health struggles, but I am sought out for my specialty work. As it turns out, many of the folks who see me for anxiety or depression wind up sharing that the roots of their current feelings stem from a history of addiction, trauma, or grief as well.

    Adult ADHD

People are getting diagnosed with ADHD later in life. There is criticism and stigma everywhere around this due to a surge in information on social media about ADHD symptoms.

If you got here because you self-identify as neurodivergent, I want you to hear that you are welcome and that I will take your symptoms seriously. I don’t view TikTok and Instagram as a threat, I view it as a tool for identification. I’m glad you have found yourself represented in the world and that you are here for help with managing what you struggle with.

You might have managed all of life's curveballs for years, but major transitions like parenthood, marriage, changing locations or graduating college can suddenly throw executive functioning issues into the spotlight.

I get it. This is my story, too. Getting an ADHD diagnosis as an adult was a mix of relief (I'm not just a hot mess) and a bunch of "what ifs" about all the shame I’ve put on myself along the way. People without ADHD brains (or with different presentations of ADHD) don't always get it. Our challenges can be minimized with statements like “it’s just mom brain” or “why don’t you leave just a few minutes earlier?”

I can be there for you because I've figured out how to be there for myself, and I'm more than happy to help you live a happier, less-stressful life.

    Addiction & Trauma

Many of today’s solutions for addiction & trauma are one size fits all leading so many to feel dependent on their therapist or like they’re not making real progress.

I know that your circumstances are unique, so every step we take is tailored to you, and always with an end goal in mind.

First, we examine the dynamics that are causing the problems you’re experiencing in your relationships.

Then, we work on the behavior changes and communication skills that will be most effective for you.

Through our work together, you’ll be equipped with the skills and confidence you need to thrive in your relationships — your relationships with others and, most importantly, your relationship with yourself.

  • I am dedicated to helping people live an authentic life. That said, I show up as myself in the therapy room. That means you don’t have to edit or censor yourself.

My training in trauma and addiction means I have the expertise you need and deserve when trying to manage your life struggles. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be a person struggling with ADHD, PTSD, low self-esteem & codependency.

I get it because I’ve experienced first hand and worked with hundreds of people who grew up in some sort of dysfunction. I know that sometimes your past blends in with your present and that frustrates you (“haven’t I been working on this long enough?”). So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

  • Degrees

As a professional, I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Individual and a bunch of other titles that mean I've studied a lot and put some time and effort into my career and passion. I know that the "alphabet soup" of my certifications and licensure isn't all that meaningful to most people.

More importantly, throughout my career, I have learned how to walk alongside my clients, trudging through shame, grief, and trauma while identifying and overcoming self-defeating behaviors along the way.
