Meet Michaela Coleman
Clinical Student Intern
SHE/HER
I'm a counseling intern and graduate student at NC State University. I believe healing doesn't come from having all the answers: it comes from having someone willing to sit with you while you find your own!

I bring a calm, compassionate presence to therapy and love slowing down enough to understand what it's like to be you. While our experiences shape us, I believe we are all more than our past. My goal is to help you make sense of where you are today, reconnect with what matters most to you, and begin building a life that feels more aligned with who you are becoming.

I enjoy working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, identity exploration, life transitions, stress, burnout, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck. I also enjoy incorporating mindfulness, meditation, and grounding practices into sessions to help clients build a more compassionate relationship with themselves and their nervous system.

Creating an affirming, welcoming space is deeply important to me. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and, during my time at Little Seed Counseling, I am receiving specialized training in neuro-affirming therapy. My hope is that you'll feel like you don't have to perform, have it all figured out, or carry everything alone when you're with me.

Why work with an intern?
Working with a counseling intern can be a wonderful option for many people. Interns bring fresh perspectives, genuine curiosity, and a deep commitment to learning and providing thoughtful care. Because they are actively training, they receive ongoing supervision from experienced licensed clinicians, meaning your care is supported by both your therapist and a seasoned clinical team. If you're looking for a warm, collaborative space to work through life's challenges, an intern can offer compassionate, high-quality care while making therapy more financially accessible.

Is working with an intern right for me?
An intern may be a great fit if you're looking for support with concerns like anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, identity exploration, stress, burnout, relationship concerns, or personal growth. Many clients appreciate having the time and space to slow down, process, and build practical tools for moving forward.

At this time, our interns are not the best fit for individuals experiencing high-acuity mental health concerns, active substance use disorders, severe eating disorders, active psychosis, significant safety concerns, or complex presentations that require specialized treatment. If your needs fall into one of these areas, we'll help match you with one of our licensed clinicians who has the training and experience to best support you.

Our goal is always to connect you with the therapist who is the best fit for your unique needs, whether that's one of our interns or one of our licensed clinicians.
